John McCarthy isn’t a fan of Alex Pereira continuing to criticize Herb Dean following June 14.

Pereira has repeatedly posted on social media about Dean ever since his title fight loss that took place last month on the White House.

The likes of Henry Cejudo have also called out Dean following several controversies across recent UFC events, but ‘Poatan’ has been by far probably the most consistent.

While the Brazilian could also be well inside his rights to complain, this behavior is much from the personality that fans fell in love with during his ascent within the UFC.

John McCarthy says Alex Pereira is detracting from the stoicism that helped make him an enormous star

Alex Pereira has gone so far as to share a petition to ban Herb Dean from being a referee after believing that the referee made a fight-altering mistake on June 14.

John McCarthy has defended his fellow official Dean over his decision to not penalize Ciryl Gane for landing shots to the back of the pinnacle.

During a recent episode of the Weighing In podcast, McCarthy was asked whether he thinks Pereira’s response to the loss is damaging his legacy.

“I do consider it does,” the legendary referee replied.

He went on to clarify that when becoming one in every of the largest stars in the game, Pereira shared the type of stoicism that Fedor Emelianenko delivered to the table.

This then led to the purpose that if the long-lasting Russian heavyweight was repeatedly posting complaints on social media, it might detract from what made him so special in the primary place.

“I’m okay with him complaining and sitting there saying, ‘Hey, I feel that I got fouled’. Okay, that’s effective,” McCarthy said. “To take a seat there after which attempt to, I don’t know if it’s him or his people, but to do the things he’s doing and to proceed on with them, it’s just not who he’s. It’s just not what we’ve seen.”

While McCarthy made his return to being a referee last yr, it is very unlikely that he’ll ever be the official for any of Pereira’s fights.

Through the podcast episode, he responded to a fan query asking why he’s not returned to the Octagon, explaining that Dana White doesn’t like that he’s worked for other promotions.
