Pimblett was willing to retire if he suffered loss at UFC 329

After suffering his first UFC loss earlier this yr, the 31-year-old was wanting to return with a comprehensive win.

And despite being the underdog heading into the fight, Pimblett was extremely confident about how he was going to beat ‘God of War’, and a day before the fight, he perfectly predicted the end result.

Actually, Pimblett was that sure that he was going to return to the win column on Saturday night, that he has revealed he was willing to retire if he lost to BSD.

“This fight camp wasn’t easy, getting up to now wasn’t easy,” Pimblett said on About Last Fight.

“About 4 weeks ago, five weeks ago, I turned to (my coach) and was like, ‘Listen, if I don’t win this fight what’s the purpose in fighting anymore, I would as well retire, if I can’t beat BSD then what’s the purpose in fighting?’

“If I can’t beat BSD then I’m never gonna be a world champion and that’s what I do that for, I do that to be one of the best on the earth. After which two days later, Justin Gaethje beats Ilia Topuria and it was certainly one of the most important kicks up the a— I’ve ever had in my life. It set a fireplace underneath me.

“I’m able to kill anyone. Put anyone in front of me and I’ll kill them. I could’ve literally killed Benoit Saint-Denis tonight, I needed to say to Marc, ‘Lad, he’s out, he’s unconscious’.”

Now, though, as an alternative of considering retirement, Pimblett is back on the verge of a title shot, and a possible rematch with Justin Gaethje.

Despite that, he’ll likely need yet another win before he is taken into account for a title shot, and in his post-fight interview, he called out the likes of Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira.
