Conor McGregor teases boxing rematch with undefeated boxer

Set to compete in his UFC return match on Jul. 11, 2026 at UFC 329, Conor McGregor is now all set to face Max Holloway. Currently one of the talked-about fights the world over, McGregor was also involved in an identical hyped fight. Long before his MMA hiatus, fans saw McGregor jump sports into boxing and tackle Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Almost a decade ago, in 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr. competed in his last-ever skilled boxing match when he faced and defeated UFC’s Conor McGregor. In his fiftieth overall profession match, Mayweather Jr. finished his profession on an especially high note. Undefeated throughout his run, he has now faced a possible rematch challenge from McGregor.

Ahead of his UFC comeback, McGregor appeared for an interview with TMZ Sports, where he opened up concerning the idea of a rematch with Mayweather Jr. “Yeah, obviously [I’m interested in a rematch],” McGregor told TMZ. “I’m like this with Floyd [Mayweather Jr.]. I’m like this with little Floyd. There’s conversations ongoing at all times with the boy,” he further added. “That is the truth. So, I’m open for it.”

Set to show 38 just days after his fight with Max Holloway, Mayweather Jr. is currently 49. Retired from skilled boxing in 2017, Mayweather Jr. began a profession in exhibition boxing in 2018. His exhibition profession began with a win over Tenshin Nasukawa, followed by a non-contest against Logan Paul. He has been in a complete of eight exhibition boxing matches, out of which he has recorded three victories, one has been a no-contest, and 4 have been non-scored.
