Conor McGregor has been told to honor his word if he decides to return again.

This past Saturday, Conor McGregor‘s return to motion ended disastrously when he injured his knee within the opening seconds of his UFC 329 principal event against Max Holloway.

The Irishman limped out of the world without even changing out of his fight shorts while looking extremely emotional after such a disappointing end.

Despite now being 37 years old and at the top of his profession, McGregor immediately declared his plan to return once his injury is healed.

Israel Adesanya tells McGregor to fight Michael Chandler

This Monday morning, the Irishman revealed that he’ll undergo surgery to repair his injured right knee, stating that he’ll return once it has healed to fight out his UFC contract.

Holloway stays adamant that he’s willing to attend for ‘The Notorious’ to return in order that they will settle their rivalry with a trilogy.

Despite that, former UFC champion Israel Adesanya has told McGregor that he must finally fight Michael Chandler if he’s to return again.

“He sort of picked at his glove for a second so I believed, is he gonna retire? I don’t think so, though,” Adesanya said on the Mightycast.

“A fight with Max again after five years layoff, you’re fighting at the highest of the heap, among the best, that’s a tough fight to return back against. I say if he does determine to return back in a while, Chandler can be the one fight that is sensible.

“He sort of owes Chandler that fight. He honey-d—– him for 2 or three years while Chandler was waiting for the big-money fight. So in any case this time, it’d be good for them to finally settle the rating.”

That can likely be music to ‘Iron’ Mike’s ears as he’s riding a four-fight losing streak coming towards the top of his profession in the game.

And with it being the ultimate fight on McGregor’s UFC contract, it looks as if one among the one competitive fights the promotion could make for each fighters at this stage of their respective careers.
