Jessie J and boyfriend Chanan Colman quietly split after welcoming their first baby together.
“Chanan and I made a decision to finish our romantic relationship a while ago,” the singer, 38, wrote via Instagram on Monday, July 20. “It has been a tragic and difficult situation, but we’ve got been focused on navigating the change privately and positively for a healthy and pleased coparenting environment for our son, and ourselves.”
Jessie explained why it was essential for her to deal with the breakup herself.
“Unfortunately being in the general public eye that is the best technique to let people know the reality, before rumours flow into or a false narrative is written,” she continued.
Despite their decision to part ways, Jessie clarified that the pair were in place, adding, “We are going to at all times proceed supporting one another with love, respect and care as friends and most significantly being Sky’s Mum and Dad.”
She concluded: “So when you see us out and about together as a family, or posting one another on socials every from time to time. That’s exactly what we’re doing. Raising and loving Sky together, supported with a positive friendship.”
The previous couple began dating in 2021. They announced in 2023 that Jessie was pregnant with their first baby, and their son, Sky, was born later that 12 months.
Ahead of their split, the skilled basketball player, 42, was by Jessie’s side as she battled breast cancer.
“I used to be diagnosed with early breast cancer. I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I’m holding onto the word early,” Jessie told fans in a June 2025 social media video. “I actually have been out and in of tests throughout this whole period. I just desired to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I don’t discuss it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know the way much sharing previously has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and likewise their very own stories. I’m an open book.”
Later that month, Jessie offered an update on her treatment.
“Pros: Cancer has all gone,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories. “My nipple is where it was once [and] I can watch Love Island with no guilt. I’m attending to rest and check with friends greater than ever.”
Jessie noted that she still had a lingering “fear” that the cancer might return. She later clarified that her cancer was not “all gone.”
“You have got [misunderstood] my post,” she claimed. “I posted a listing of pros and cons of getting breast cancer surgery. The primary pro I put was … The cancer has all gone. This was a positive affirmation, NOT a fact.”
She continued, “I don’t have my results yet. l added the emoji in considering people would understand and clearly quite a bit didn’t. A weird situation. My fault for not being clearer. But for now I shouldn’t have my results after surgery which was only 6 nights ago. I pray it’ll be true soon, however the journey of cancer isn’t that easy unfortunately!!”
Earlier this 12 months, Jessie announced that she is officially cancer-free.
“‼️RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE‼️😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” she captioned an Instagram Reel from her doctor’s office in May. “I sobbed for hours after which exhaled for the primary time in a 12 months 🌱🔋.”
