Hearn explained that discussions with TKO and Turki Alalshikh’s team had moved toward America, despite language in the prevailing agreement calling for the fight to happen within the UK. He stressed that any change would require the contract to be renegotiated.

“We had a gathering the opposite day with Nick Khan from TKO. Clearly, Turki Alalshikh works with those guys. All of them want the fight in America. We’ve been told within the last 24 hours that’s what they need,” said Hearn to DAZN before explaining the present contract specifies Britain as the placement. He later said, “If there’s a reason that he and Netflix want this fight to happen within the US, I get it. I believe it’s disappointing.”

Bellew wasn’t inquisitive about the industrial argument.

“The difference is these people want the fight to be within the US. That’s the truth of the situation. American boxing’s dead. Nobody cares. Why are we appealing to America? America don’t care about us. We’ve got the very best crowds on the planet. We’ve got probably the most passionate fans on the planet. These are the 2 stalwarts of British boxing. Nobody cares about America. Why do they need it there?” Bellew said as he repeatedly talked over Hearn in the course of the discussion.
