What began as a series of strange social media posts about WWE star Roxanne Perez escalated into something much more alarming over the weekend.
A Twitter user, identified as James Stephenson, spent several days posting delusional claims that Perez was romantically concerned with him and would eventually leave her boyfriend, Drake Morreaux, to be with him. Because the posts became increasingly unsettling, screenshots quickly spread across social media, with many users urging others to report the account over fears that the behavior had develop into dangerous.
Stephenson attempted to support his claims by sharing what gave the impression to be a fan meet-and-greet photo with Perez. He wrote,
“Here is the proof that I actually have met Roxanne. And he or she does love me and plan to go away Drake for me.”
“I actually have her address so if she doesn’t reply to me I’m going there.”
“I want Drake to beat her so she realises we’re purported to be together.”
“Liv shouldn’t be touching Roxanne like that, she is mine 😡.”
“She must be with me as a substitute of him.”
A series of screenshots accrued greater than 175,000 views, and plenty of users encouraged others to report the account out of concern for Perez’s safety.
Shortly afterward, the Twitter account was suspended.
