1999 saw The Corporation and the Ministry of Darkness merge on WWE TV to form the Corporate Ministry, though the group only lasted months.
The 2 groups officially merged in the course of the pilot episode of WWE SmackDown in late April, but officially disbanded in early August, after just three months.
On a recent edition of his “Six Feet Under” podcast, The Undertaker spoke in regards to the original Ministry, sharing his delight in regards to the faction. He said,
“The Ministry, that was lots of fun. We actually, really got to push the envelope with the Ministry, with the symbolism and the entire innuendo and every part else… That was some really, really cool stuff that we did. And the sacrifices and just the general darkness of it really pushed lots of people’s buttons.”
While the WWE icon loved his time with the Ministry, merging with The Corporation was a terrible idea so far as The Undertaker was concerned. He said,
“I feel we had something that was really edgy and, again, made people think and made people feel a certain way. When it became the Corporate Ministry, it was identical to, womp, womp, womp, womp, womp. Yeah, it sucked. It really did. I hated it.”
The Undertaker would vanish from TV shortly after the top of the Corporate Ministry, as he was going through a divorce and needed break day.
After missing WrestleMania, The Undertaker returned in mid-2000 on the Judgment Day pay-per-view event because the American Badass character.
