Knight Riders Bring Back Ryan ten Doeschate As Cricket Strategy Head

Former India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has rejoined the Knight Riders franchise after being appointed because the Head of Cricket Strategy at Knight Riders Sports. In his recent position, the previous Netherlands all-rounder can be answerable for shaping the cricketing strategy across the franchise’s global teams.

The appointment comes soon after the conclusion of his two-year stint with the Indian team, which ended following the white-ball tour of England. Ten Doeschate opted not to increase his contract with the national side.

As Head of Cricket Strategy, he’ll oversee key areas including cricket strategy, talent scouting, player recruitment, squad planning, and performance evaluation across the Knight Riders network. He may also collaborate closely with the coaching staff to ascertain a consistent cricketing philosophy throughout the franchise.

Aside from his strategic responsibilities, ten Doeschate will tackle coaching duties as an assistant coach for Trinbago Knight Riders within the Caribbean Premier League, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders within the ILT20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.

Ten Doeschate said he was excited to return to the Knight Riders setup. “It is a unique opportunity to work with the coaching and analytics teams across our global franchises to strengthen our scouting and player development systems, and to construct a long-term cricket strategy,” he said.

Ryan ten Doeschate Selected Family Over India Coaching Role

Ryan ten Doeschate‘s return to the Knight Riders setup comes as little surprise after he informed the BCCI earlier this month of his decision to step down as India’s assistant coach. In accordance with reports, ten Doeschate stepped down for private reasons after completing his two-year stint, opting to spend more time together with his family in London.

Ten Doeschate’s association with the Knight Riders dates back to 2011, when he joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)as a player. He played a key role within the franchise’s IPL title-winning campaigns in 2012 and 2014 before returning as a coach in 2022.

He was also a part of the support staff that guided KKR to their third IPL crown in 2024, after which he joined Gautam Gambhir’s coaching staff with the Indian team later that yr.
