Team India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul returned to Mumbai after completing India’s three-match ODI series against England, where he was welcomed by his wife, Athiya Shetty, on the airport. Athiya stepped out of her automotive to greet Rahul as he arrived, and the couple happily posed for photographs with the waiting paparazzi.

Celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani later shared a video of the 34-year-old’s arrival on Instagram.

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty got married on January 23, 2023, in an intimate ceremony at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala. The couple welcomed their daughter, Evaarah, on March 24, 2025.

KL Rahul Missed Second ODI Of England Series Because Of Illness

KL Rahul endured a disappointing begin to the three-match ODI series, managing just one run off three balls from the No. 6 position before being dismissed by pacer Josh Tongue. Despite his early exit, India comfortably chased down the 259-run goal with six wickets to spare.

The wicketkeeper-batter missed the second ODI after falling ailing. On the toss, captain Shubman Gill confirmed Rahul’s unavailability, with Ishan Kishan replacing him within the playing XI and taking on the wicketkeeping duties. Gill said:

“We had an ideal game, hopefully we are going to do it again today. We began well and it was great to see fast bowlers do well. Excellent memories here. We now have one change, KL is sick and Ishan is available in for him.”

Rahul returned to the playing XI for the series-deciding ODI at Lord’s but couldn’t make an enormous contribution. The fitting-hander scored 12 off eight balls before being dismissed by Jofra Archer. India eventually fell 27 runs short while chasing a frightening 388-run goal.

The wicketkeeper-batter is next expected to feature in India’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, where he’ll proceed because the team’s vice-captain within the longest format. The opening Test is scheduled to start on the Galle International Stadium on August 15.
