Cignal made one other significant signing in opposite spiker Jovelyn Fernandez on Wednesday, when it also let go of three of its regulars because the HD Spikers proceed to shore up heading into the brand new Premier Volleyball League season.
Fernandez, the previous Far Eastern University (FEU) ace within the UAAP, might be joining a crack core led by Most Beneficial Player Ces Molina, Jovelyn Gonzaga and the rising Vanie Gandler and libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig, who was signed last month to bolster their defense.
And with Macandili-Catindig aboard, the team opted to let go of liberos Bia General and Anngela Nunag and outdoors hitter Jerrili Malabanan, giving hints that there might be more signings to return as former teammates of Fernandez at disbanded F2 Logistics remain without teams.
“I’m so pleased to be an element of this Cignal team, especially with how they finished strong within the last two conferences,” Fernandez said in Cignal’s announcement on Wednesday. “I’m looking forward to learn from coach Shaq [delos Santos] and [the veteran members of the team] who also got here from FEU.”
Fernandez capped her collegiate stint with a Best Opposite Spiker award with the Lady Tamaraws before turning pro with F2 Logistics before the Invitational Conference last yr.
