Son scored in his last game for the north Londoners on Latest Yr’s Eve as they beat Bournemouth 3-1 to maneuver inside three points of Liverpool at the highest.

That gap has since stretched to seven as Tottenham began to falter without their skipper, with a narrow 3-2 comeback win over Brentford sandwiched between draws against Manchester United and Everton.

Nonetheless, Son returned to Hotspur Way on Thursday after South Korea were knocked out of the Asian Cup this week by Jordan.

Is Son available against Brighton?

Yes, Ange Postecoglou is anticipated to have the South Korean superstar back in his matchday squad for the visit of the Seagulls.

Having returned to the club’s training ground this week, Son will train together with his teammates on Friday and, barring any injury, will likely be involved.

It’s yet to be confirmed whether he will likely be fit enough to start out the match, with Postecoglou more likely to include him on the bench as an alternative.

The Australian said in his pre-match press conference: “Sonny did recovery on Thursday and trained today. [Bissouma] trained, Lo Celso trained. The one ones still out are Solomon and Sessegnon.

“Sonny and Biss they trained well. Gio trained all week but he’s missed a good little bit of football so we’ll whether he needs one other week or not.”

Son’s return will come as an enormous boost to Spurs, with the 31-year-old still the club’s top goalscorer despite missing the whole thing of January.
