Darren Bent believes that whoever is accountable for signing Mykhailo Mudryk for Chelsea must be ‘sacked’.
The Ukrainian winger arrived at Stamford Bridge greater than a 12 months ago to much fanfare after the Blues beat Arsenal to his signature after striking a £90million take care of Shaktar Donetsk in January 2023.
Nonetheless it’s protected to say his time in England is yet to actually take off.
Since joining the club, Mudryk has made 43 appearances for the Blues, albeit with just 20 of those coming within the starting XI.
In that point he’s managed just 4 goals and five assists with little to talk of by way of standout displays.
Mudryk was introduced from the bench within the Carabao Cup final with Liverpool – a match that the Blues lost 1-0 with an error from him resulting in the winner.
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Bent said: “Whoever gave the green light for the Mudryk transfer for that sum of money deserves to be sacked. He got here on and had no impact.
“When he got here on I assumed, ‘oh this may be his moment’ – a giant pitch, Liverpool getting drained. His biggest attribute is his pace and he showed absolutely nothing.
“I assumed Conor Gallagher was alright. Okay, he missed a glaring probability and hit the post with the opposite, but he was the just one who got here near scoring a goal and offering a little bit of energy.
“Moises Caicedo looks nothing just like the player we saw at Brighton. Enzo Fernandez for the cash they paid, he’s got the worst pass appreciation that I’ve ever seen.
“Even a five-yard pass or a 10-yard pass so your teammate can control it and do something with it – awful.”
Asked if a greater manager would get more from them, Bent said: “They’re not bad players because Liverpool wanted the identical players.
“For those who’re a Chelsea fan and also you’re watching that yesterday – I do know they wanted Jorginho out, but he’d have been so a lot better in that situation than Caicedo.
“What Jorginho does higher than anyone is control the pace of the sport. Even Mateo Kovacic, they let Kovacic go to Man City – you’ll be able to’t tell me that Kovacic and Jorginho aren’t higher than Caicedo and Enzo?”
Discussing if Pochettino is the person to take Chelsea forward, Bent added: “The job that he did at Tottenham was incredible, but he had no budget. He’s now gone to Chelsea where the budget is big and still nothing.
“I take a look at what Klopp did yesterday with the youngsters and think it’s top-level management. I take a look at what Poch did and the way in which they arrange – I still don’t know the way in which that Chelsea are attempting to play, that’s the large thing.
“History has shown that when it’s gets to the crunch time of cup finals and pushing for titles, he’s not quite there. On that evidence, you’d probably say no.”
