Actor Kani Kusruti, known for her recent film All We Imagine As Light, posed with a watermelon clutch on the film’s Cannes 2024 screening, expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine. 
For the unversed, watermelon has grow to be a logo of Palestinian resistance, echoing the colors of their flag- red, green and black. The sovereign state’s flag also has white in it and the actress was wearing a well structured white dress. She accomplished her look by adding an Indian touch to it by wearing a bindi and a few ethnic earrings.
After the images went viral, several users, including actors from the Malayalam film industry gave a shout-out to Kani on their respective social media handles. Meanwhile, the forged and crew of the film were all smiles on the red carpet. It’s after 30 years that an Indian film has competed for the Palme d’Or award at the distinguished Cannes Film Festival.
