Manchester United are set to permit Jadon Sancho to go away on a free transfer next summer, in line with reports.

Sancho, who joined United in a £73 million deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, is currently spending the season on loan at Aston Villa.

Through the summer, Ruben Amorim made it clear that he had no intention of reintegrating Sancho into his United squad after Chelsea paid £5m to send the winger back to Old Trafford following his loan spell last term.

United have the choice of triggering an option to increase Sancho’s £200,000-a-week contract for an additional 12 months, keeping him tied to the club until 2027.

Nevertheless, talkSPORT report that United are ‘leaning towards cutting their losses’ and are planning to release Sancho at the tip of the season, slightly than risk paying his salary for one more 12 months.

But given he has no future at Old Trafford under Amorim, United would wish to hunt a everlasting exit for Sancho next summer with the intention to recoup a small a part of the £73m they paid to Dortmund 4 years ago.

Sancho has not began a Premier League game for Villa this season and has played just 69 minutes in the highest flight across three substitute appearances.

Speaking last month, Unai Emery revealed that Sancho was unhappy after he was substituted within the 1-0 win against Manchester City after he replaced Emiliano Buendia in the primary half.

‘Yes, sure he’s not completely happy but I did it before with Morgan Rogers, with Emiliano Buendia, with Leon Bailey, and he played 60 minutes on Thursday,’ Emery said.

‘Today when he [Buendia] was injured, my plan was perhaps in case he [Sancho] was going to play half-hour, but I made a decision to play more and he played 45 minutes.

‘But my plan was when he was swapped with Emiliano Buendia, the thought was perhaps not playing all of the minutes until the last moment.

‘And I told him as well, he can feel it, it’s embarrassing.

‘Before Morgan, Emiliano Buendia and Leon Bailey, they felt the identical after I subbed them, however it was not a punishment. And now it’s not a punishment.

‘He played 45 minutes, I’m so completely happy because his impact was good, his electricity, his skill, but then to play greater than now he’s not ready fit to play 90 minutes, 45 minutes will not be easy enough for him and I’m completely happy and naturally, progressively he’s coming higher and higher.’
