Former India batter Wasim Jaffer said that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant’s impact is hardly noticeable in the midst of a poor begin to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign. His poor form continued after being dismissed for just 1-run through the five-wicket defeat to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday, April 15. Notably, Pant has managed only 29 runs within the last three innings.
“The highest 4 batters must contribute. In that area, LSG is taking a beating. The runs will not be coming from Mitchell Marsh, Markram was out on an unusual ball, and for Rishabh Pant, should you remove that one innings, his contribution is nothing. Nicholas Pooran looks completely off form, it looks like he has not arrived within the tournament only,” Wasim Jaffer said on his YouTube channel.
“When there are such a lot of batting failures, how will it work? 146 was a completely below par rating on this ground. So, it was quite a lacklustre performance by LSG, they must lift themselves up, otherwise, it should be too late for them,” he further added.

Then again, Virat Kohli, who has been affected by illness and a niggle recently, found himself on the impact sub list for the primary time in his profession as well. He didn’t field during RCB’s stunning bowling and fielding display, but opened the innings with Phil Salt as well.
“It felt that he would finish the sport off for the team, and rating 70-80 runs not out. Unfortunately, he got out on 49. When Virat Kohli plays well, your entire Chinnaswamy gets their money’s value. I hope he recovers from his niggle soon because people also need to see his intensity on the sector,” Wasim Jaffer concluded.
