Chelsea star told he’s ‘not adequate to be a starter’ after Man Utd defeat | Football

Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Alejandro Garnacho showed that ‘he isn’t adequate to be a daily starter for Chelsea’ of their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

Garnacho has scored only one Premier League for Chelsea this season following his £40 million move from Manchester United last summer.

The 21-year-old faced his former club for the primary time at Stamford Bridge as he replaced Estevao in the primary half after the Brazilian was forced off with a hamstring injury.

Nevertheless, Garnacho struggled to get the higher of Diogo Dalot, while Chelsea struggled to interrupt down a well-organised United defence after they went ahead shortly before the break through Matheus Cunha.

When asked what Garnacho showed along with his performance against United, Robinson told Stadium Astro: ‘That he’s not adequate to be a daily starter for Chelsea and Manchester United can have done some good business.

‘I believe the season that he left Manchester United, I used to be surprised that they let him go since you take a look at his stats that season at Manchester United, he was their most creative player. You take a look at the goals he scored, the assists that he got, but anyone saw something at Manchester United that we saw tonight.

‘He was alleged to be a game changer off the bench, obviously not that early on in the sport, but for me, he runs down dead ends too persistently.

‘He gets the ball and immediately his head’s down and he’s gone. He’s very, very one-dimensional in the way in which that he attacks. Yes, he’s an attacking threat, but he’s quite easy to defend against.

‘As a full-back, surely you’d wish to defend against him because he’s quite predictable.

‘It might be taught and that’s what good coach coaches do in the event you’re willing to listen.

‘It’s like anything in life, in the event you keep doing the identical thing and it’s not working, what do you do? You alter it.

‘He kept doing the identical thing tonight and he didn’t change it. It was either a blind run at his full-back, which was so predictable, or he turns, rotates, and keeps possession into the center of the sphere.’
