Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad produced a spectacular diving catch to remove SunRisers Hyderabad opener Travis Head during their IPL 2026 clash on the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, April 18. The 29-year-old lunged forward to finish the catch, ending Head’s innings at 23 off 20 balls and breaking the 75-run opening stand with Abhishek Sharma.
The moment of brilliance got here within the sixth over of SRH’s innings. Mukesh Choudhary attempted a large yorker but delivered a full toss as an alternative. Head tried to power it straight back past the bowler but did not get the required elevation, allowing Gaikwad to dive forward and take a pointy catch with excellent athleticism.
Ruturaj Gaikwad continued to make an impact in the sphere, grabbing one other catch on the very next delivery as Choudhary dismissed SRH captain Ishan Kishan for a golden duck, capping off a dramatic end to the powerplay. Watch the video here:

Abhishek Sharma provided a blistering start for SunRisers Hyderabad against Chennai Super Kings of their IPL 2026 clash. The left-hander smashed a rapid 59 off just 22 balls at a formidable strike rate of 268.18, including 4 sixes and 6 boundaries.
He was well supported by Heinrich Klaasen, who scored a composed 59 from 39 deliveries, hitting two sixes and 6 fours. On the time of writing, the hosts had reached 177/6 in 17.2 overs, with Salil Arora and Liam Livingstone on the crease.
