NHL Rumors: John Carlson, Darrren Raddysh, and Alex Tuch
Gord Stellick: “Just with on the positive side, the Buffalo Sabres story, the non-positive side, July 1 could possibly be a troublesome day in your job, our job, unrestricted free agency. So, I mean, Alex Tuch is it going to be like David Pastrnak, a few years and get done, or what’s your take as we head into getting slightly bit more serious?
Elliotte Friedman: “Sorry Gord, you narrow on the market for a second.”
Stellick: “Just speak about Alex Tuch so far as unrestricted free agency.”
Friedman: “I heard that there was still a niche. Now, again, I hadn’t heard anything recently that had closed. It’s believed that Tuck is on the lookout for a number around Adrian Kempe. And Kempe is within the $10.5 million range.
I heard earlier this season that they offered him something around, when Kevyn Adams was still the GM, they offered him something around Tage Thompson’s number, which was within the low sevens, and that wasn’t going to get it done. After which I heard across the Olympics that they’ve gone up into the mid eights, and that also wasn’t going to get it done.
NHL Rumors: The Latest on the Buffalo Sabres and Alex Tuch
And I’m undecided if there’s been movement for that since then. I believe that is going to return all the way down to how the playoffs go. Like, I believe in the event that they do well, and he has a superb playoff, I don’t understand how they’re not going to give you the chance to sign him.
And ultimately, I believe his preference is to remain too. He’s from there. He built a wonderful latest home there. It just sounds to me like everybody’s going to must bend a bit from where I last heard they were.”
Alex Tuch Says Talks On Hold For Now
Prior to puck drop of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch was asked by Greg Wyshynski in regards to the uncertainty he faced this 12 months, not having a contract yet as a pending unrestricted free agent. Tuch says talks have been put aside to concentrate on playing hockey.

Greg Wyshynski: “You don’t have a contract beyond this season. You’re an unrestricted free agent. You had a GM change at the highest. You might have this season, this dream season for the Sabres. What’s it been like so that you can have sort of that profession uncertainty and on the back burner while all this other stuff’s happening this 12 months?”
NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres Have to Re-Sign Alex Tuch
Alex Tuch: “You understand what? Winning makes it quite a bit easier. It really does. Winning a number of games makes it quite a bit easier, makes it more fun. We’ve had talks and all the things, but as of late, we decided, you realize what, it’s higher let’s just exit and play hockey. There’s no imminent timeline or anything like that. I’m just going to concentrate on playing hockey. I’m going to concentrate on the last word goal and being pretty much as good of a player within the playoffs as possible.
And I’ve all the time just fearful about what’s in my control, and that’s my work ethic each and every single day, and the way I come to the rink, and the way I’m as a teammate and as an individual. In order that’s all I’ve been specializing in, especially the last month or so after the trade deadline, and been in a position to sort of just settle in and play some hockey, and that’s it. Winning cures all the things. It does. Winning cures all the things.”
