It seems that Dustin Poirier won’t ever recover from his bitter feud with Conor McGregor even after going 2-1 within the octagon.

Poirier first fought McGregor back in 2014, when he infamously claimed to have never been more annoyed by an opponent. He was knocked out on that occasion, and had to attend almost seven years for revenge.

He finally got that when he knocked out the Irishman at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi, albeit in a bizarrely friendly affair. The pair’s beef became much more heated before UFC 264 but Poirier won again as McGregor broke his leg while checking a kick and things have never been patched up between them.

Dustin Poirier wishes the worst for Conor McGregor after fights

During a discussion with Jorge Masvidal, Din Thomas and Chris Weidman, Dustin Poirier was asked about Conor McGregor’s upcoming return to the octagon. It is going to be his first time back within the cage since that horrific leg break all those years ago.

Weidman has been through a really similar injury to the one McGregor suffered, and knows just the way it feels to get back to the octagon and even win. And he claimed that he’s ‘hoping for the most effective’ for the Irishman in his recovery.

Poirier then interrupted, replying: “Not me, I hope the worst for him.” He claimed to be ‘just kidding’ after the actual fact, nevertheless it isn’t surprising given just how bitter their feud became and arguably still is following McGregor’s comments about Poirier’s wife Jolie sending him private messages after the trilogy.

Back in January, McGregor attempted to patch things up with a supportive Instagram comment towards Poirier when his wife gave birth to their daughter. Nevertheless, Poirier didn’t accept that response particularly graciously and insisted that they’re removed from friends.
