Netflix could have a crossover hit on their hands with Running Point and Emily in Paris.
Through the season 2 finale of Running Point, which premiered on Thursday, April 23, Jackie (Fabrizio Guido) was offered the prospect to go to Europe over the summer for a piece opportunity. He wasn’t sure due to his girlfriend, who wanted him to go together with her to Boston while she pursued one other job.
Jackie’s family encouraged him to not be “the girl who didn’t go to Paris” as a reference to Lauren Conrad on The Hills. He ultimately decided to decide on Europe, and a few of Us couldn’t help but notice that Netflix has one other show set in Paris.
“That’d be so interesting to see Jackie and Emily in Paris,” Guido, 26, exclusively told Us Weekly. “It’s a totally different vibe.”
Guido noted that “it could occur” since Emily in Paris is returning to its roots after a transient pivot to Rome. Emily in Paris centers on Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) after her move to France from the U.S. for a brand new job. Emily subsequently ended up caught in a love triangle with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
Emily then moved on with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), but by the top of season 4, Gabriel realized that he desired to fight for her. Emily, nevertheless, had moved to Rome and began her future with Marcello.
Season 5 took Emily and her friends back to Paris with a stop in Venice within the finale. Within the last scene, nevertheless, viewers checked in with Gabriel, who was working on a ship that was about to dock in Greece, which paved the way in which for him to ask Emily to go to him.
“All we all know is that we’re going to Greece and Monaco,” Bravo, 38, told Us earlier this month. “We have now no script. I don’t know. I do want them to be comfortable and in love because they’ve been working on it for six or seven years now.”
Creator Darren Star, meanwhile, confirmed that Gabriel’s postcard to Emily, wherein he mentioned Greece, opened the door for more surprises, saying, “We’re going to be in Mykonos. And we are going to get to Monaco for a little bit of a surprising reason. We’ll be in Paris so much this season.”
Running Point follows Kate Hudson as a reformed party girl, Isla, who gets the prospect to prove herself when she is left in control of her family’s pro basketball team. Guido’s character, Jackie, was a surprise introduction in season 1 when the Gordon family came upon that they had a secret brother.
“After we see Jackie in season 1, all he wants is to be an element of this family. Season 2, Jackie is a component of this family, and I don’t think Jackie knew what that meant,” the actor noted. “Jackie was just considering positives.”
He continued: “But Jackie gets each side of the coin. I believe every sibling experiences each side of the coin on this season. It’s got a heavy emphasis on the family dynamic and where our loyalties lie.”
