Reporter: “What’s your top priority in terms of augmenting the roster, Kevin? Since you’re, you realize, quite a lot of your core guys and your high end guys had the very best years they’ve ever had.”

Cheveldayoff: “Yeah, so, you realize, again, I believe there’s probably, you realize, numerous different priorities. And sitting here at once, the priority is, you realize, doing the going through the exit process here. I’m not ready to simply, you realize, say, ‘Okay, we’re able to turn the page here.’ We’re not turning the page on this one here for a bit, you realize.

So we’ll spend quite a lot of time, you realize, talking, you realize, about that. You recognize, 16 teams are out, eight more teams are going to be out. And, you realize, 10, 12, days, you realize, there’s the conversations with other teams and stuff like that aren’t really going to start out, you realize, for some time yet. Like everyone could have to undergo their, you realize, their very own processes. They’ll have their, you realize, own levels of disappointment.

But, you realize, obviously the you realize, the (Manitoba) Moose are playing, so that you’re going to, you realize, sit and watch, you realize, watch them as well, keep, you realize, evaluating the inner players. A few of them obviously had a great run here to get a likelihood to play. See if those are areas which are going to plug your holes.

And again, it’s there’s nobody single priority that’s sitting here at this cut-off date, and it’s mainly taking an entire assessment of the organization.”

Reporter: “Have you ever seen enough of Scott Arniel over the past 4 years to know he’ll be back next 12 months?

Cheveldayoff: “You recognize, obviously, you realize, again, a part of the evaluation process here is for us to undergo, just like the, you realize, the exits. You recognize, you undergo that with players. You give them the chance to, you realize, to say their thing.

For us, we’re going to do this with the coaches as well, and again, give them, you realize, the chance. I do know that the entire entire coaching staff, they work extremely hard. They’re extremely prepared. You recognize, they do those sort of things to ensure that they struggle to offer the very best opportunity to players.

NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings, and the Winnipeg Jets

So, you realize, again, I, I’m not going to sit down here and make any daring proclamations, because, again, this, this evaluation process, you realize, I owe it. I owe it to the organization. I owe it to ourselves. I owe it to the fans. I owe it to the players. And, you realize, like I said, we’re not able to turn the page on anything yet, and we’ll just, we’ll carry on evaluating.”
