IPL 2026: Virat Kohli Powers RCB To Dominant Victory Over Gujarat Titans

RCB

In a high-scoring encounter on the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured an exhilarating five-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 34 of IPL 2026. Chasing a frightening goal of 206, RCB’s batting lineup lived as much as its status, ending the sport with seven balls to spare.

This win of their final home leg game at Bengaluru boosted the defending champions to the second spot on the points table. The Gujarat Titans, after being put in to bat, posted a large 205/3 due to a spectacular century by Sai Sudharsan, who scored 100 off 58 balls.

Sudharsan anchored the innings with a large 128-run opening stand alongside captain Shubman Gill (32). Despite the solid start, RCB’s bowlers managed to tug things back in the ultimate 4 overs, conceding only 34 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming a wicket, while Suyash Sharma also dismissed Gill to interrupt the harmful opening partnership. A late cameo from Jason Holder (23)* helped GT cross the 200-run mark.

Kohli-Padikkal Stand Seals RCB’s Dominant Chase

RCB’s chase began with a major stroke of luck when Virat Kohli was dropped on the very first ball he faced. The veteran batter made GT pay dearly for the lapse, smashing a superb 81 off 44 balls, including 4 sixes and eight boundaries. He found an aggressive partner in Devdutt Padikkal, who played a whirlwind knock of 55 off just 27 deliveries.

Their 115-run partnership for the second wicket effectively took the sport away from Gujarat. Despite a minor middle-order stumble where Rashid Khan dismissed each Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidarin quick succession, RCB remained heading in the right direction.

Krunal Pandya showed great composure, scoring an unbeaten 23 off 12 balls to seal the win, while Tim David chipped in with a useful 10 runs. For GT, Rashid Khan was essentially the most effective bowler with figures of two/49, but the dearth of early wickets proved costly against RCB’s deep batting unit.
