‘Everyone gets chosen and dropped, but nobody talks about him’ – Former India player says about Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Former Indian player Aakash Chopra said that Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performances are being missed, although he has been performing well in the continued IPL 2026. Jaiswal has scored 306 runs in nine matches to this point, playing a vital role in taking his team to the highest half of the IPL points table. Nevertheless, he has been overshadowed by 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has scored 400 runs, including a century, with a strike rate above 238.

“Have a look at his numbers within the last three years. He was a component of the T20 World Cup 2024-winning team, after which he got dropped. Everyone gets chosen and dropped, but nobody talks about him. I’m not saying he needs to be chosen. I understand there isn’t any vacant place,” Aakash Chopra said on YouTube.

Nevertheless, Jaiswal was rested for the T20I series against England in 2025, and since then, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson have sealed their places within the team. He was not picked for the Asia Cup and has not played a single T20I within the last two years as well.

“If you happen to see his IPL numbers for the last three years, he has scored runs and has a great average and strike rate. He’s doing every part right. Nevertheless, ignore selection; he isn’t even a part of the conversation. What was done after 2024 was like taking a fly out of milk and throwing it away. What was the guy’s mistake?” he concluded.
