Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Power Play segment with Steve Kouleas and Jason Strudwick on Wednesday. There, he was asked in regards to the trade rumours about Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk and where they’re coming from.

Jason Strudwick: “So Pags (Dave Pagnotta) clear this up for me, are these these conversations happening because individuals are hearing that perhaps there’s opportunity for him to depart there, or is because they’ve seen other players leave, like a Quinn Hughes or (Mitch) Marner, etc, who or his brother, Matthew Tkachuk want out of Calgary, they usually’ve seen there’s a blueprint, they usually’re like, well, possibly this can occur again. So, which one do you see it coming from?”
Dave Pagnotta: “In all honesty, Struds, I feel it’s each. I feel there are teams which are going to love, are hearing this chatter, and that they’re going to say, ‘Well, okay, let’s have the conversation.’ Perhaps there’s an avenue here, because remember when Matthew Tkachuk was traded. I’m just using his for example. It’s not since it’s his brother, just convenient, but not due to that. But there was talk that, the Flames were going to look to maneuver him, and that was denied. Then GM Brad Treliving, on the time, said, ‘No, it’s not going to occur at the top of the season.’ After which he was moved in August.

So, there are teams which are curious. There are teams that hear some chatter, and also you brought up Quinn Hughes. I mean, that’s a good enough example with respect to his future and the uncertainty there. We then discover via Jim Rutherford that it was last summer once they discovered that he wasn’t going to sign an extension with the club, and that they tried to persuade him otherwise.
It didn’t work, after which he was ultimately moved afterward throughout the season. Does that apply here again? I don’t think that it is a scenario where he’s told the team he’s out by any stretch. I don’t wish to put that narrative on the market, nevertheless it definitely feels like it is a combination of individuals and teams across the league believing that there’s going to be an avenue sooner or later to pursue him and others which are going well, if so, we would like to get our hat within the ring, and I feel that may proceed over the course of the summer.”
NHLRumors.com Note: The Ottawa Senators captain, Brady Tkachuk, addressed the trade rumours on Wednesday when he got here back to the town. He took the time after a private matter he needed to cope with. The Senators’ captain is getting frustrated and annoyed about having to reply the identical questions on his future.
While everyone will take him at his word that he doesn’t want to depart, and neither he nor the organization has said he wants out, there’s growing talk, given the geopolitical climate. There’s even discuss Auston Matthews leaving Toronto, whilst he continues to indicate his loyalty there.

So all eyes remain on Ottawa heading into this offseason, but much more so next offseason because the Senators captain is eligible for an extension on July 1, 2027.
