Bollywood is currently in sequel mode, with several popular franchises gearing up for a comeback. Currently, a lot of sequels to renowned movies have been confirmed by makers and lead stars. While some are within the works, some have already begun filming. Here’s a take a look at these upcoming Bollywood sequels and their current status.
1. 3 Idiots 2
There was loads of buzz around 3 Idiots’ sequel, with fans wondering whether the franchise will move forward. Aamir Khan finally put all speculations to rest as he confirmed the sequel, expressing that part 2 has the “same humor with an unusual story.” Presently, the story remains to be being written by director Rajkumar Hirani and author Abhijat Joshi.
As per reports, in a recent development, it’s being speculated that Vicky Kaushal has been approached to play the 4th Idiot within the sequel. As per The Times of India, the Chhava star is keen to return on board. Reports further suggest that his character is claimed to be emotional, adding a sentimental narrative to the unique trio’s dynamic. Nonetheless, these are only speculations, and neither Vicky nor the makers has confirmed anything yet.
2. Tumbbad 2
Sohum Shah created an area for horror-folklore in Hindi cinema together with his 2018 masterpiece Tumbbad. The film garnered a cult following, especially after its 2024 re-release, making it the second-highest-grossing re-release of an Indian film.
The sequel went on the ground this 12 months and is already generating tremendous buzz. Tumbbad 2 will hit theaters on December 3, next 12 months, as confirmed by the makers.
3. Drishyam 3

Earlier, the team was imagined to fly out to Dubai in March to shoot for a song, but got deferred because of the continued US-Iran-UAE war.
Suniel’s intro scene might be shot over three days on one of the crucial expensive sets within the movie. The makers wish for the actor’s entry scene to be much like that of the late Feroz Khan’s memorable introduction in Welcome (2007).
The report suggests that Welcome to the Jungle is nearing its finish line before its much-awaited release.
5. Golmaal 5
The fifth installment of the favored Golmaal franchise was announced by maker Rohit Shetty in March this 12 months. Golmaal 5 is returning with its original solid, including Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor, and Sharman Joshi. Bhooth Bangla star Akshay Kumar was also confirmed as a part of the franchise.
The film has begun shooting, and a brand new video from Ajay shows the OG team having fun with their schedule in Ooty. No official release date has been confirmed by the team yet.
