R Ashwin’s Remark At Vijay Oath Ceremony Gains Attention After TVK’s Win

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin amused fans online with a light-hearted remark in the course of the oath ceremony of Vijay, who was sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Sunday. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, made a robust electoral debut within the 2026 state elections by winning 108 seats.

The actor-turned-politician took charge as Chief Minister after forming a coalition government that also includes the Congress party. Throughout the ceremony, Ashwin humorously identified a security personnel who looked just like Anshul Kamboj of the Chennai Super Kings, a moment that quickly caught attention on social media.

“Duty all the time comes first, but on a must-win match day #CSKVLSG, it’s a bit an excessive amount of. It’s a day game, get a cab & get to Chepauk ASAP, Anshul Kamboj. Big game,” Ashwin posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Coming to the match, an unchanged Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday.

CSK Goal Crucial Win As LSG Arrive After Breaking Losing Streak

A win for Chennai Super Kings, who’re currently placed sixth on the points table, would boost their possibilities of qualifying for the playoffs, while bottom-placed Lucknow Super Giants come into the match after ending a six-game losing streak with a nine-run victory over defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

After winning the toss, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said the pitch had been under covers and, with rain around, it was a straightforward decision to bowl first on a red-soil surface.

“The wicket was under covers and there was rain around. The pitch does behave in a different way in day games, but we want to adapt well after which restrict them to a low rating. Pretty positive on the best way the last 7-8 games have gone for us. It’s been an excellent turnaround and we’ll look to remain positive,” he said.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, confirmed that Josh Inglis and Avesh Khan have been included within the playing XI, replacing Arshin Kulkarni and Mayank Yadav.

“We might have bowled first as well. And We’d like to win all games, but we should be consistent and play some good cricket. We’ve got had our moments and probabilities, but we didn’t finish it. We’ve got to present 200% in every game,” he said.
