Jenna Elfman broke her silence after her recent show hinted at a possible exit from Tim Allen‘s Shifting Gears.
Throughout the Fox Upfronts on Monday, May 11, Elfman, 54, confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly that her joining The Interrogator as a series regular opposite Stephen Fry wouldn’t interfere together with her role as Eve on the hit ABC sitcom.
“I can go play on Shifting Gears,” she revealed to Us before suggesting a possible cameo on the Fox project from her Shifting Gears love interest. “[Having Tim Allen on] can be very entertaining. He’s very funny and I feel Stephen interrogating Tim Allen [would be cool].”
News broke earlier this month that Elfman has a brand new show within the works. In response to the official synopsis, Fry will play a former MI6 agent Conrad Henry.
“When conventional methods have failed, Henry’s quirky charm, superior intellect and mind-bending behavioral maneuvers make him the one man in a position to lock-pick the minds of the world’s most dangerous criminals,” the outline teased.
Elfman, meanwhile, will portray Woodrow, who’s a “former rising star within the CIA whose profession was derailed by a mission gone awry.”
“Now stationed on the DIA as a handler for Henry’s team, she views the post as a demotion — and step one in clawing her way back,” read her character bio. “She supervises Henry’s cases, pushes him and infrequently clashes with him; Conrad is at all times seven steps ahead, and Woodrow is never greater than five. Still, the pair share a grudging mutual respect that makes for a compelling, strange-bedfellows dynamic.”
The actress’ recent job raised questions on her future on ABC’s Shifting Gears. She was expected to return for season 3 after previously appearing in nine episodes while also filming AMC’s Dark Winds.
Elfman previously spoke to Us about returning to the ABC hit.
“I’m loving doing the show. I really like working with everybody on it. I really like the showrunner. It genuinely is like I’m waiting for the opposite shoe to drop because I can’t imagine how good it’s. I’m very excited for everybody to see it,” she gushed in September 2025. “I even have to say I’m blown away by the writing this 12 months. They’re writing for every actor and for his or her character so well. The stories are sincerely hilarious. Like, at work, we’re all doubled over laughing repeatedly.”
Elfman continued: “Just as a performer and as someone on this industry, I’m blown away at how good the comedy is on this show this 12 months. In order that makes me very excited for everybody at home because I do know they’re going to have an incredible laugh with their family.”
Shifting Gears is currently streaming on Hulu, while The Interrogator will air on Fox.
