KKR Star Doubtful For Crucial IPL 2026 Clash Against RCB Due To Injury

Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakaravarthy is reportedly a serious doubt for the must-win clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur on Wednesday, May 13. The mystery spinner picked up an injury during KKR’s recent victory over Delhi Capitals on the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

After the match in Delhi, Varun was spotted walking with the assistance of a cane while wearing a protective boot, sparking concerns over his fitness ahead of the away fixture against the defending champions.

As per a report by Telegraph India, the spinner has worsened the injury to his leg, putting his participation in serious doubt.

He had initially suffered the problem during KKR’s win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and was also seen limping near the tip of his spell against DC. KKR assistant coach Shane Watson also shared an update on Varun’s condition, stating that the spinner is under remark and stays doubtful for the upcoming match.

“Varun Chakravarthy continues to be being monitored in the intervening time. Obviously he’s been sore. Within the last two games he was in lots of pain. Though he still bowled incredibly well, to see where he began off within the season to where he’s ended up attending to has been incredible to see,” Watson said in the course of the pre-match press conference (via India Today).

“We’re just monitoring him in the intervening time. We’ve got our fingers crossed that he’ll be available for tomorrow, but we’re still not exactly sure,” he added.

Kolkata Knight Riders, currently eighth on the points table with nine points from 10 matches, are in a must-win situation. The three-time champions have bounced back strongly with 4 consecutive victories after failing to win any of their opening six games.

Varun Chakaravarthy shines with eight wickets during KKR four-match winning streak

The star spinner had earlier missed Kolkata Knight Riders’ matches against Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants due to a finger injury before making his comeback within the away fixture against Chennai Super Kings. Varun Chakaravarthy managed only two wickets during KKR’s poor run in the primary half of the season.

Nevertheless, the mystery spinner has rediscovered his rhythm since then, claiming eight wickets in the next matches, including two decisive performances against Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, helping revive his form.
