“There have been reports earlier to Monday about Evan Gold being the brand new GM. All I used to be told about that was, it’s premature. And I’m not going to knock anybody else’s reporting. People hear things on a regular basis, but I used to be specifically told to not say that as any form of done deal. It’s premature.

So the last I heard, it was all the way down to two: Evan Gold and Ryan Johnson, who’s currently there, and I imagine that there had been conversations with each of them about potentially taking the job. But at this cut-off date, I used to be just told the reports about Evan Gold being the guy are premature. (inaudible). I would like to not be flawed again, so I’m just going to stick to that.”

The Swedish system of NHL leadership

NHL Media: Elliotte Friedman yesterday on Henrik and Daniel Sedin taking over an even bigger role with the Vancouver Canucks.

“Well, I do imagine the Sedin’s are taking an even bigger role there. The most effective comparable that was given to me guys is it’s probably going to find yourself similar as Toronto has ended up with John Chayka because the GM and Mats Sundin as a, as a vice chairman of an advisor, or an advisor.

Like, Chayka ultimately has the decision-making power, but Sundin’s opinion will matter 100% and I feel it’s going to find yourself being something like that. I feel, I feel this, I just like the Sedins taking over an even bigger role. They care loads concerning the Canucks. I feel it’s an important move.”

However it’s going to be just like Toronto’s setup, and since there’s Swedes involved in either side. I’m calling it the brand new Swedish system of NHL leadership. A franchise legend in an advisory role from Sweden and a general manager.”
