Again, you realize, we’re not even 36 hours removed, so it’s a troublesome loss, but I definitely can be open, you realize, open to re-signing here.”

Reporter: “What are the aspects that matter to you if you consider a call like that?”

Hughes: “That’s a great query. I mean, I feel there’s definitely a pair. You realize, I feel just going home, talking to my parents, my brothers, obviously leaning on family and support. But again, we’re 36 hours removed. I’m undecided I’m able to, you realize, get into detail what that may appear to be.

But you realize, I feel I can say that I actually prefer it here. I like the team, I like the town, and the fans. I mean, just, you realize, being in that locker room was a special group, and would definitely be reopened to signing here with the blokes that now we have within the room, and just the people now we have within the room.

Quite a lot of, you realize, trust, you realize, with Billy as well, and love Heinzy and Cappy and the coaching staff. I just think it’s, you realize, good spot, great situation for myself. So I’m saying all that, you go together with where you would like with that.”

NHLRumors.com Note: Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin have to be grinning from ear to ear after hearing Quinn Hughes comments about his interest level in extending with the Wild. He’s eligible to sign an extension after July 1st.

Currently, Erik Karlsson is the highest-paid defenseman at $11.5 million, followed by Drew Doughty and Rasmus Dahlin at $11 million. Evan Bouchard is the one other defenseman over $10 million.

Cale Makar can be extension eligible, and each he and Hughes will reset the D market. It should be interesting to see who extends first.
