Kathryn Tappen: “Well, sticking with Toronto, there’s still a head coaching emptiness there as well. Any indication on, are they near finalizing a brand new coach or where we’re at with this search?
NHL Rumors: Will the Buffalo Sabres and Alex Tuch Make a Deal?
Friedman: “No, I don’t consider, Kathryn, they’re near finding a brand new (coach). I feel it’s, someone told me on the weekend that from what they’re hearing about Toronto, they’re going to talk over with numerous people. And so they, they’re, they really need to talk over with, they’ve a protracted list, apparently.
And I do know I’ve been, I’ve been putting some names on the market, Jay Woodcroft, Manny Malhotra, names like that, and I had some people say to me, it’s just, they think it’s only a much deeper search than that.
Now, one name that I feel is, someone that they’re thinking about is David Carle, the pinnacle coach of Denver. Enormously successful. I feel there’s been some early contact there, and I feel they’re going to speak again. I feel they only desired to gauge his interest. Would, would, would you have an interest in any respect within the job? I feel they will speak again, and we’ll see where it goes here he’s. You understand, he’s ready where he can call his own shot.
But I feel Toronto desires to forged a large net. I feel they would really like to talk over with (Bruce) Cassidy, too. I don’t know if that’s a probable consequence, but I do consider that they’re ready where they wish to talk over with numerous people. And so they are usually not ready where they really have a desire to rush this, unless for whatever reason they absolutely must do.
David Pagnotta: Imagine that Jay Woodcroft is on the Toronto Maple Leafs radar for his or her vacant head coaching position. The Maple Leafs would want permission from the Anaheim Geese to talk with him. As of Tuesday, they hadn’t reached out to the Geese about permission.
