Fans in attendance at AEW Double or Nothing 2026 didn’t react well to a mention of The Rock during Mick Foley’s AEW debut appearance.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley appeared on the Double or Nothing 2026 pre-show, where he discussed the AEW World Championship Title vs. Hair match between Darby Allin and Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Foley predicted that Allin would go away the event as champion while MJF would end the night bald.
MJF quickly interrupted the segment and confronted Foley within the ring. The previous AEW World Champion mocked the Hardcore Legend, claiming that each major moment of Foley’s profession resulted in defeat. Foley admitted he suffered loads of losses throughout his profession, but reminded MJF that a young man named Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might remember just a few victories Foley scored over him, referencing his WWF Championship wins against Dwayne Johnson in late 1998 and early 1999.
The mention of The Rock drew loud boos from the group inside Louis Armstrong Stadium, seemingly due to his ties to WWE and TKO amid ongoing backlash surrounding the recent talent releases and reported pay cut requests.
Foley later doubled down on his prediction, joking that MJF’s wavy hair would soon be “waving goodbye” after losing to Allin later within the evening. MJF responded with a low blow to Foley and teased further damage before Allin rushed to the ring to make the save. The segment ended with Foley giving the reigning World Champion a motivational pep talk.
At the top of the night, MJF defeated Darby Allin to capture the AEW World Championship.
