Floyd Mayweather Fled The Arena After Breaking The Big Show’s Nose In 2008

Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather made a swift exit after his segment at No Way Out 2008, where he broke the nose of ex-WWE Superstar Paul Wight.

The segment saw Wight, then The Big Show, make his return to WWE TV after over a 12 months away and attack Rey Mysterio.

Mayweather would get within the ring, and, after Wight got to his knees, threw punches at the enormous, leading to a broken nose.

During a recent interview with James Sweetnam, Wight shared that he asked Mayweather to interrupt his nose to make the segment seem more believable. He said,

“I asked him, you recognize, we needed to set the angle. I asked him to interrupt my nose and but I did tell him. I said, “If you do, run because there’s going to be about 10 seconds. If I get my hands on you, I’m going to tug your arms off of you. I’m going to pluck you apart like a Ken doll.”

Not only did Floyd leave the ring, but he left the show, fearing that there might be a possible backlash from Wight’s fellow wrestlers. He said,

“He was smart enough to try this. But I believe I did such job on my end of being within the moment that he left the constructing. We needed to call him to come back back to let him know that every little thing’s okay and we’re off and rocking and rolling and doing business.”

Despite Mayweather being initially positioned as a face, his flashy persona and standing as an outsider resulted in fans gravitating towards the veteran Wight.

The 2 faced off at WWE WrestleMania 24 in March 2008, in a match where Mayweather got the win with a knockout punch with brass knuckles.
