While the Montreal Canadiens are facing elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes, one member of the club that hasn’t been facing increased scrutiny from their fan base is goaltender Jakub Dobes, who has done the whole lot he can to present his club the most effective likelihood to win.
The one problem is that, outside of their 6-2 win over the Hurricanes in Game 1, Dobes hasn’t gotten the sort of run support he needs from his teammates, who became the primary team in NHL history to register 18 or less shots on goal in three straight playoff games.
Nevertheless, Dobes made sure to thank the fans who’ve supported him throughout this playoff run to the Eastern Conference Final.
“I mean, it has been unbelievable,” Dobes said via NHL.com. “My family is here they usually’re loving every second of it. Really grateful for what I even have and the way much the fans love me and love our team. I won’t ever take that as a right. I’ll at all times show up with my best effort. That is all I can do back. The fans have a special place in my heart needless to say.”

Throughout Game 4 and through home playoff games at Bell Centre, Dobes has been routinely serenaded with chants of “Dobey, Dobey, Dobey” from sellout crowds. While the recent offensive performances of his teammates have been disappointing, their three straight losses actually cannot be pinned on Dobes.
He and the Canadiens will attempt to stave off elimination once they play the Hurricanes in Game 4 on Friday evening in Raleigh.
