Why Loma Lookboonmee Will Win

  • Last Fight: (L) Alexia Thainara – U DEC
  • Last 5: 4-1
  • Finishes: 1 KO/TKO, 1 SUB

Loma Lookboonmee was bested during her last outing as she was dominated 110-67 strikes on the feet while allowing five of 11 takedowns from Alexia Thainara. Up until that loss, nearly all of Lookboonmee’s outings were met with success where she controlled nearly all of exchanges. Her last three losses, which have been few and much between, have come against lively strikers like Angela Hill and Loopy Godinez – if Lookboonmee can get back to her consistent striking pace and remain in front of her opponent, she should have the option to cause Amorim some frustration throughout this one.

Lookboonmee is a classically-trained Muay Thai kickboxer and has been practicing martial arts from a young age. Given her shorter stature and stockier frame, she’s incredibly difficult to land clean strikes against as she does an incredible job shelling up her striking defense and never allowing opponents much room to work. From there, she’s in a position to duck underneath and counter along with her own combos and low kicks.

On this particular matchup, Lookboonmee shall be facing one other striker with similar output to hers, so she’ll must match it with higher intensity and accuracy in her strikes. She’s landing 3.67 strikes per minute with a 55% accuracy, each higher rates than Amorim, so expect Lookboonmee to regulate the striking exchanges if she’s in a position to remain unfazed from the offense coming back her way.

Why Jaqueline Amorim Will Win

  • Last Fight: (L) Mizuki Inoue – U DEC
  • Last 5: 4-1
  • Finishes: 2 KO/TKO, 8 SUB

Jaqueline Amorim also bumped into a brick wall during her last fight despite being listed because the -380 betting favorite against a newcomer to the promotion. It was clear that Amorim looked a step slow throughout the UFC 321 appearance, but she’s confident in bouncing back against a matchup that barely tilts in her favor once more. She notched three-consecutive wins by submission prior to that loss, so expect Amorim to get back within the win column along with her grappling and doing what she does best on the bottom.

Amorim is an especially game and willing striker on the subject of heated exchanges in the middle of the octagon. While grappling is definitely her strong suit, she doesn’t back down from a challenge and can do the whole lot within the opening round to achieve the respect of striking-centric opponent opposite of her. Expect Amorim to pressure Lookboonmee early and remain in her face with constant pressure and striking output to attempt to overwhelm her opponent.

On the bottom, Amorim is incredibly crafty and does an incredible job of reversing positions if she’s ever in a nasty spot. She wastes no time in full or half guard and is at all times seeking to advance to a greater position. If she’s in a position to find mount or take her opponents’ back, Amorim will quickly gain control of the motion and make it difficult for Lookboonmee to effectively and repeatedly get back to her feet.

Final Loma Lookboonmee-Jaqueline Amorim Prediction & Pick

This must be a fun scrap to open the motion from Macau, China as each fighters are very willing to face in the middle of the octagon and exchange heavy combos. Loma Lookboonmee is far more lively along with her multi-punch boxing combos and kicking game, while Amorim is far more lively along with her movement and jab while continually looking to have interaction for the takedown.

It’s value noting that Lookboonmee’s only finish loss got here by submission and given her wrestling woes during her last outing, Amorim must be expected to heavily work the grappling throughout this fight. If she’s in a position to effectively take Lookboonmee down in each round, we must always see Amorim and the positive side of those ground exchanges. For our final prediction, let’s roll with Jaqueline Amorim to narrowly win this fight by decision.
