India veteran Rohit Sharma has informed the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) of his plans to coach on the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on June 8 and 9 ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Nevertheless, his availability for the series will rely upon his recovery from the hamstring injury he picked up during IPL 2026.
The Mumbai Indians opener missed several matches in the center phase of the IPL season before making his comeback for the ultimate few games. Rohit’s campaign ended on a disappointing note with a duck against Rajasthan Royals on the Wankhede Stadium, while MI didn’t qualify for the playoffs after ending ninth within the standings.
As per the usual procedure, injured centrally contracted players are required to report back to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for assessment, rehabilitation, and fitness clearance. Nevertheless, Rohit is yet to report at the ability.
