NHL Rumors: Where Are the Brady Tkachuk Trade Rumors Coming From?
Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, Sens fans found one other strategy to get mad at me, or I suppose I discovered one other way. First, it was the entire Brady Tkachuk thing, and just I’ll just sit back and wait until that happens. The opposite is now yesterday or Thursday, excuse me, On the DFO Insider Edition with Irf, we had each reported, after which I enhanced it – that the Ottawa Senators are on the lookout for a right-shot defenseman. They wanted anyone who can slot it to their top 4. They need an upgrade on that side,
And I also indicated, chatting with people from the team, that Jordan Spence in that role doesn’t fit the bill. They need an upgrade over Jordan Spence. That he hasn’t hit the mark for what they thought he could, they usually’re on the lookout for an upgrade. They might move him. They might keep him on the third pair. Whatever, moral of the story is that although he put up 31 points, they need an upgrade. And I don’t know why everyone’s so pissy about it, but that’s the truth of Ottawa situation.
Upper management wants to usher in a defenseman. They need anyone who is best than Jordan Spence, and that’s it. Now, I don’t know why I keep having to emphasise this. This isn’t a knock on Spence. They only want anyone who can slot on the proper side on the primary or second pair, and that’s what the Sens are on the lookout for.”
Dennis Bernstein: “Let’s take a look at this team, though. They were the second wild card. He got swept in the primary, they got swept in the primary round. So that you don’t need to improve the team? You desire to run it back with the identical players?
Is Fighting Disappearing From Hockey (or Just Changing)?
I like Jordan Spence. I do know him from Los Angeles, and he produced. But is he a top-four player on a championship team? That’s the query, and that’s what they’re taking a look at. So, it’s not – he’s not a nasty player. I do know they stepped up his minutes, and he did produce, but is that over time going to be a championship player? I don’t know.”
Pagnotta: “Additionally they had no person else, so by default, he had more opportunity, and good for him again. This is just not a knock on Jordan Spence. That is just what the Sens need to do. Yeah, so yeah, anyway, just desired to reiterate that for the Sense fans that may proceed to complain about it.”
NHLRumors.com Note: Certainly one of the large the explanation why the Senators went out and got Jordan Spence was Nick Jensen having hip resurfacing surgery. Jensen took a big step back this past season. Let’s see what a full offseason without surgery does, however it doesn’t change the indisputable fact that the Senators’ defence corps was not deep enough. They tried to get Rasmus Ristolainen, MacKenzie Weegar, Tyler Myers, and others on the trade deadline, but couldn’t close the deal.
They need assistance on the proper side, so that they have the depth to not only compete in an Atlantic Division that is simply getting tougher, but in addition withstand injuries throughout the course of the season.
