After Ilia Topuria was deemed to have quit against Justin Gaethje, major name fighters were lining as much as get their digs in on the two-weight world champion. Jake Paul, Arman Tsarukyan and most famously Terence Crawford were amongst essentially the most vocal of their derision of the Georgian.

“This the guy that said he would knock me out and whoop me and Shakur at the identical time?” Crawford asked in a viral tweet. This drew the ire of Conor McGregor, who reminded the boxer that he would never dream of competing in any MMA fight, much less a top level one.

“What the f— are you saying?” McGregor asked. “You’ll be able to wrestle yet you’re afraid of an MMA fight. That to me is pitiful. The child was beaten in an MMA fight, of which you don’t have the courage for. What the f— was with all these little boxers at this show yet no MMA fighters? #TheseBoysAintManEnough.”

Crawford took to X to snipe back on the Irishman, writing with a quiet emoji: “Shut yo drunk a— up and prepare for yo fight. He got his a– whoop like you probably did running yo mouth. I don’t have to come back and fight within the cage. That’s the enjoyment of boxing y’all come to us we don’t have to come back to y’all.”

McGregor left a cheeky reply that stumped Crawford, saying “Don’t be scared, homie. MMA KINGS LIKE US.”

The boxer then wrote a thinly veiled indirect tweet that read: “Still till today regardless of what y’all say or how you’re feeling Boxing continues to be and can eternally be the toughest sport to do at a top level.” McGregor replied: “I suppose we’ll never know.”

In one other indirect tweet, Crawford attempted to get the last word writing: “I don’t care what sport you do, all of them wanna learn box.

“Even the soccer mothers wanna put the gloves on and do punch fitness. You don’t see them training to do MMA for other sports. We our not that very same [sic]. But I respect the hell outta y’all I’m just saying.”
