Michael Chandler told to ‘wrap up’ his profession by UFC legend after White House loss left him 2-6

Things didn’t go to plan for Michael Chandler at UFC Freedom 250.

The previous three-time Bellator champion had his woes contained in the Octagon compounded during Sunday’s UFC event on the White House.

Before title wins for Justin Gaethje and Ciryl Gane within the headliners, Mauricio Ruffy’s knockout of Chandler was among the many undercard fights on the celebratory card in Washington, DC.

After his latest defeat, Chandler has now lost six of his eight UFC fights, and Chael Sonnen is amongst those that think it’s time for him to call it quits.

The long-time contender was KO’d by Mauricio Ruffy at UFC Freedom 250.

Chael Sonnen wants Michael Chandler to ‘wrap it up’ after UFC Freedom 250

After knocking out Dan Hooker in his debut, Chandler got here near beating Charles Oliveira and becoming UFC lightweight champion in his second fight within the promotion.

But since falling victim to a ‘Do Bronx’ comeback in 2021, ‘Iron’ has lost five out of his six fights. The Ruffy defeat at UFC Freedom 250 made it 4 setbacks in a row for Chandler.

At 40 years old, many wishing to see the American hang up his gloves after yet one more loss on Sunday night.

And amongst those calling for retirement is Sonnen, who was quick to share his thoughts on Chandler’s current status moments after he got knocked out on the South Lawn of the White House.

“Great profession. Let’s wrap it up,” Sonnen wrote on X.

Talk of Chandler retiring from MMA had risen to the surface days before UFC Freedom 250 after one in all the American’s teammates suggested he can be ending his profession whatever the result.

That announcement was not made contained in the Octagon on the night, and Chandler has yet to interrupt his silence and address the result or his future on social media.
