How Conor McGregor is avoiding one other injury spoiling UFC 329 comeback

Having not fought since suffering a broken leg in 2021, McGregor was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024.

Weeks out from the pay-per-view event, nevertheless, ‘The Notorious’ pulled out citing a broken toe in training as the explanation.

Along with his comeback having been delayed ever since, McGregor is outwardly doing the whole lot he can behind the scenes to make sure such a scenario is unlikely to be repeated.

“I learned a lesson in that lapse in concentration within the (UFC 303) camp in preparation that I actually have since adjusted,” McGregor said during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.

“When that last bout was set, we had the UFC’s cameras come over three weeks before the bout, no protective gear in any way, a flow spar, the cameras are on, there’s just a little little bit of intensity.

“The newborn toe cracked, and that was excruciating pain,” he continued. “I needed to take it on the chin — take this lesson, implement it, wear protective gear, ensure that the whole team is aware and we’re discussing what style of training session that is.

“We’ve done that, the body is correct, I’m rested, my head is sharp, my body is fresh.”

The Irishman will probably be a heavy underdog when he enters the cage to fight Holloway, whom McGregor claims has not improved since he got the higher of the Hawaiian back in 2013.

After the International Fight Week fundamental event, McGregor could have yet one more UFC fight on his current deal.

Although he sounds keen to stay with the promotion, talk of Netflix super-fights and a BKFC debut may pique his interest as the top of his contract nears.
