‘Floyd Broke Ain’t Like Everybody Else Broke’

“People could discuss, ‘Oh, Floyd broke and Floyd this.’ Man, even when let’s just say coincidentally Floyd broke,” Shakur said on Andre Ward’s Art of War podcast. “Floyd broke ain’t like everybody else broke, bro. Floyd broke is a unique variety of broke,” said Shakur to Andre Ward’s channel.

“Floyd broke continues to be super wealthy at the top of the day.

“I done sat on the phone with Floyd for hours, and in conversation I just realized like, yo, this dude is just in love with boxing,” Shakur said. “He’s obsessive about boxing.

“He probably just can’t hang the gloves up. He can’t let it go. He never really did.”

Shakur also expressed surprise at how sharp Mayweather still looks in training despite approaching 50 years old.

“Floyd past his prime is healthier than a whole lot of guys of their prime,” Shakur said. “He just knows a lot, been on too many big stages.”

Mayweather, 49, has continued competing in exhibition bouts since retiring from skilled boxing in 2017 with a 50-0 record.

Mayweather is scheduled to face former kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis in an exhibition bout on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

“Floyd Mayweather scares me,” Shakur said. “After I talk over with him, he jogs my memory of me.

“I like boxing to death. I won’t ever leave boxing. I’ll at all times be in or across the sport. But I’m not attempting to be boxing. No. Fighting at 40 is horrifying work.”
