During minicamp this past week, the Broncos played host to eight players auditioning for roster spots, per Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette. Among the many eight workout participants were one notable veteran and three recent undrafted free agents, and two from the latter group walked away with latest contracts.
The workout took place Tuesday and included, amongst others, defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu, offensive lineman Reid Holskey, and undrafted rookies Sawyer Robertson out of Baylor and Blake Cotton out of Utah.
Tuipulotu is a former sixth-round pick of USC who was drafted by the Eagles in 2021. After only appearing in five games as a rookie, Tuipulotu found a bigger role in 12 months 2. He earned his first profession start in 2022 and appeared in nine total games before a torn meniscus shut him down for the rest of the season. After losing the second half of his sophomore campaign to injury, Tuipulotu returned in 2023 to look in 14 games and record 22 total tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits, but he did not finish out his rookie contract as he was waived in final roster cuts in 2024. Within the two years since, he’s hung out with the Chiefs and Giants, appearing in five games (one start) for Kansas City.
Holskey is a Miami (OH) product that went undrafted last 12 months. A four-year starter at right tackle for the RedHawks, Holskey originally signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent but didn’t last long in Baltimore, so he spent the top of the summer in 2025 with the Texans. The 2024 first-team All-MAC lineman has yet to look in an NFL game, but he was one in every of the 2 to land a contract offer from the team two days after the tryout.
Robertson transferred to Baylor after starting his education at Mississippi State then served because the Bears’ starting quarterback in 2024 and 2025. In 24 starts at Baylor, Robertson went 13-11, completing just over 60 percent of his passes for six,752 passing yards, 59 passing touchdowns, and 20 interceptions, adding seven scores on the bottom. Robertson was considered a late-Day 3 pick, if he was going to be drafted in any respect. He looked the part, sporting most of the physical attributes and skills of a possible NFL passer, but improved decision-making, pocket awareness, and accuracy were going to be crucial for him to land on an NFL roster.
After playing three years at UC-Davis, Cotton spent his last 12 months of eligibility with the Utes. He got here off the bench for the primary five games of the season before moving into a starting role for the ultimate eight contests of the 12 months. Cotton was not considered a draftable prospect as he didn’t find his way into many prospect rankings, but Denver seems to have seen something within the young cornerback as he was the opposite player to sign a take care of the team two days after the tryout.
