Uorfi Javed On Body Image & Beauty Standards
When asked about girls attempting to look a certain way as a result of societal pressure, Uorfi Javed said, “I believe young women are very impressionable. Kya hota hai na, aap jo saamne dekh rahe ho, aapko lagta hai ki wahi desirable hai. Ab ek time pe, kuch saal pehle, bade-bade hips aur bade-bade honth bahut trend mein the. Toh sab ladkiyan yahi chahti thi ki unka yeh bada ho jaaye, woh bada ho jaaye, aur yeh bhi bada ho jaaye. Sabka focus usi par tha. Par ab kya ho raha hai? Ab log yeh sab kam karwa rahe hain”
She continued, “Kardashians ne bhi sab kam karwa liya. Yeh bhi kam ho jaaye, woh bhi kam ho jaaye — ab sab kuch kam ho raha hai. So, it’s just that we’re so impressionable that jo hum dekhte hain, woh humein achha lagne lagta hai. Humein lagta hai ki agar saamne wala yeh karwa raha hai, toh shayad wahi sahi hai. Ab agar Kim Khallah yeh karwa rahi hai, toh log sochte hain ki Kim ne kuch soch-samajh kar hi karwaya hoga.”
Uorfi Admits Having Body Dysmorphia
The actress added, “Shayad mardon ko bhi yahi pasand aa raha hai, aur shayad yahi desirable cheez hai. Because all of us, ultimately, need to be desirable. It’s that straightforward. All of us need to be desired — not only by males or females, but by society typically. So, I feel like things are changing lots now. And girls are accepting themselves more. I had really bad body dysmorphia because I didn’t even know what I actually looked like. Mujhe 10 saal tak pata hi nahi tha ki meri asli shakal kaisi hai. Maine itna filler-viller karwa rakha tha ki ab jaakar mujhe apni asli shakal dekhne ko mil rahi hai. Mujhe lagta tha ki predominant nose job bhi karwa loon.”
She added, “Halaanki maine aaj tak koi surgery nahi karayi, lekin predominant karwane wali thi — boob job, nose job, pata nahi kya-kya. Shayad uss waqt mere paas paise nahi the, isliye nahi karwa payi. Aur phir jab paise aaye, toh mujhe darr lagne laga. Akal ki baat nahi hai, truthfully, mujhe bas darr lagne laga. Phir meri himmat hi nahi hui. Toh maine socha, chhodo. So, it’s just that when young women see something online, they need it because they feel that that is what the sweetness standard is immediately. But I believe increasingly more women have gotten accepting of themselves. Ab kya ho raha hai ki public figures bhi is baare mein khul kar baat kar rahe hain. Woh bhi keh rahe hain ki nahi, humein khud ko accept karna chahiye. And that’s helping other women change into more accepting of themselves as well.”
Uorfi’s Advice To Young Girls
Speaking about undergoing surgeries, the actress said, “Girls, when you could have a thought of changing something about your body permanently, fillers and Botox tak theek hai, but agar koi surgery karani hai, nose job, boob job, yeh job, woh job, toh thoda sa ruko. Itni jaldi uss thought par jump mat karo. Wait karo, dekho how you’re feeling about it. In the event you still feel the identical for one or two years, ki nahi, do saal baad bhi lag raha hai ki mujhe yeh surgery karani hai, then go for it. But just give it some thought properly. mera bhi yahi issue hai.”
Concluding, she said, “Maine bhi kara li hoti, par mujhe lagta hai India mein achhe surgeons nahi hain. Matlab, agar koi really achha surgeon milta, toh maine bhi kara li hoti. Thoda sa aur patli kara li hoti. Par mujhe lagta hai ki agar kharab ho gayi, toh phir lene ke dene pad jayenge. Jo theek-thaak dikh rahe the, woh bhi chala jayega. So, I believe it’s the dearth of excellent doctors possibly here, and affordability bhi ek factor hai. Ab jo achhe surgeons hain, woh US mein baithe hain aur do-teen crore le rahe hain. Utna toh paisa hai nahi.”
