A well-liked wrestling star has opened up a few moment when tensions with AEW’s Thunder Rosa nearly spilled over right into a legitimate confrontation during their rivalry.
Deonna Purrazzo, who previously competed in WWE against stars similar to Bianca Belair, Aaliyah, and Nia Jax, found even greater success after leaving the corporate and joining TNA. “The Virtuosa” became a two-time Knockouts Champion, launched into a memorable “belt collector” run, and eventually signed with All Elite Wrestling, where she now appears for each AEW and ROH.
Speaking on a recent edition of the “Boots to Boots” podcast, Purrazzo reflected on her feud with former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa and revealed that Rosa repeatedly pushed for his or her rivalry to culminate in a casket match. Nevertheless, Purrazzo made it clear that the concept was a non-starter as a result of her severe claustrophobia and anxiety. She said,
“Thunder Rosa wanted our last match within the feud to be a casket match. And she or he had asked me, like, ‘Can I pitch doing a casket match?’ And I used to be like, ‘Absolutely not. I’m claustrophobic. I actually have such bad anxiety and panic, and my worst fear in life is death.’ Absolutely not, no.”
“Thunder asked me, like, 3 times, and I finally checked out her, and I used to be like, ‘For those who pitch that behind my back, I’ll legit fu**ing fight you.’ The reply is not any, and we can have an actual fu**ing problem. If I show as much as TV and it’s advertised that I’m in a casket match.”
