The St. Louis Blues, who traded Jordan Kyrou to the Washington Capitals just days ago, needed to act quickly and discover a solution to replace the offensive production Kyrou provided, especially after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs this past season.
They’ve now done so with considered one of the numerous trades which have been accomplished to date on the primary day of the 2026 NHL Draft. The Blues have acquired forward Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Geese, and in return, are sending the fifteenth and twenty ninth overall picks within the opening round of the Draft back to the Geese.
The trade was confirmed by NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun:
“Anaheim trades Mason McTavish to St. Louis for picks 15 and 29,” LeBrun wrote on X, formerly often known as Twitter.
McTavish was chosen third overall by the Anaheim Geese within the 2021 NHL Draft and was once viewed as considered one of the club’s cornerstone pieces of their rebuild. He would eventually make his debut with the Geese within the 2022-23 NHL season, and has since delivered regular offensive production with seasonal goal totals of 17, 19, 22, and 17.
This past season, he posted 17 goals and 24 assists over 75 games, playing a key role in helping Anaheim return to the playoffs for the primary time since 2018. Within the postseason, he added six points, including one goal and five assists, because the Geese advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals before they were eventually taken down by the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights.
Up to now in his NHL profession, McTavish has scored 77 goals with 104 assists in 304 games.
