Gilmore Girls fans are still coming to terms with the show being faraway from Netflix — but where will or not it’s available as an alternative?
Netflix broke the news in June 2026 by taking to X with an announcement that read, “It’s a show? It’s a way of life. It’s a faith.”
The post continued: “We’re sorry to say that Gilmore Girls Seasons 1-7 will likely be leaving Netflix within the US on June 30. Raising a cup of coffee to each fan who visited Stars Hole with us.”
While only Gilmore Girls: A Yr within the Life will remain on Netflix — for now — the unique series remains to be available to stream on Disney+, Hulu and Prime Video.
Gilmore Girls, which aired from 2000 to 2007, followed a mother-daughter pair living within the fictional town of Stars Hole, Connecticut.
Along with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, Gilmore Girls starred an ensemble forged that included Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena, Yanic Truesdale, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Edward Herrmann and Liza Weil. Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, Sean Gunn, Chris Eigeman and Matt Czuchry made up the remaining of the forged.
After Gilmore Girls got here to an end, fans asked for a revival. They got their wish with Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Yr within the Life, which debuted in 2016. The four-episode show ended on a serious cliffhanger but there haven’t been any news of more episodes.
“I’ve been saying for a very long time [that] what I could see making sense is a Christmas movie, within the tradition of Downton Abbey or those other forms of shows which might be over, but then type of come together especially around the vacations,” Graham told The Hollywood Reporter in 2025. “I believe that may be very Gilmore-friendly.”

On the time, Patterson spoke to Us concerning the impact Gilmore Girls still has on fans to this present day.
“This type of medicinal, therapeutic side to the show is undeniable,” he told Us. “I hear it on a regular basis. I hear, ‘This show saved me,’ ‘This show got me through cancer,’ ‘This show got me through Iraq.’”
Patterson recalled one 2015 occasion when he was approached by a person from the military, adding, “[He told me], ‘We watched that show after we were out in the course of nowhere. If we survived our deployment, we’d get back to the camp, and we’d watch your show. We lost guys, and we’d come back and watch your show. Because to us, that felt like America. It gave us hope.”
The actor praised Gilmore Girls — and its lasting legacy.
“It doesn’t insult the intelligence of the audience,” he continued. “The audience has to return as much as its level. It’s smart. It’s very, very funny … It operates best as a light-weight comedy, after which at the top of an episode, you get a right hook to the pinnacle. It’s splendidly unpredictable. It’s 50 to 60 great jokes per episode. No one’s doing it like that. Lorelai’s principally going through life as a stand-up comic and a very good one.”
