Southern Brave have confirmed a lot of additions to their women’s and men’s coaching teams ahead of the 2026 season of The Hundred.
Gunn links up with former England teammate
The brand new appointments complete the ladies’s coaching team led by head coach Jonathan Batty and assistant coach Anya Shrubsole.
Tharindu Perera will oversee the side’s batting programme, having previously held coaching roles across the domestic and international teams.
Perera is available in having worked with the Sri Lanka women’s team, Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Adelaide Strikers and South Australia’s West End Redbacks.
His experience in player development across different cricketing environments will likely be a helpful addition as Southern Brave prepare for the brand new season.
Former England international Jenny Gunn completes the ladies’s coaching team because the fielding coach.
Gunn brings extensive international experience and a powerful understanding of the demands of high-pressure cricket.
Having featured in The Hundred during her playing profession, she is going to work with the squad to develop the sharp decision-making, athleticism and high fielding standards required within the competition.
Burger and Sharma to oversee Men’s bowling unit
Meanwhile, the boys’s coaching team led by head coach Hemang Badani and assistant coach Ian Bell has also been appointed.
Former Scotland men’s head coach Shane Burger will lead the boys’s bowling programme.
Burger brings considerable coaching experience, having previously worked with KZN Inland and the Dolphins in South Africa before taking charge of Scotland and currently is a bowling lead at Hampshire Cricket.
He will likely be supported by former India international Mohit Sharma, who joins the team with extensive experience of bowling in high-pressure situations and throughout the closing stages of T20 matches.
Sharma represented India across all three formats and built a powerful status for his death bowling during his profession within the Indian Premier League. His experience will provide the squad with one other helpful perspective on the tactical demands of short-form cricket.
Former Ireland international John Mooney completes the boys’s coaching team as fielding coach.
Mooney was known throughout his playing profession for his energy, athleticism and competitiveness in the sphere. He will likely be liable for helping the squad maintain consistently high standards across all areas of their fielding.
The appointments add a broad range of international, domestic and franchise experience to Southern Brave’s coaching structure as preparations proceed for the 2026 season of The Hundred.
