Cameron Smotherman’s disastrous 12 months continued at Fury FC 121 on Sunday evening.
In January, the 28-year-old collapsed on stage before his UFC 324 fight against Ricky Turcios was cancelled through the weigh-in.
Things went from bad to worse when he suffered a 3rd consecutive loss in May, which led to him being released by MMA’s premier promotion.
If you happen to were Dana White, who’s the primary fighter you’d cut from the UFC roster?
Watch Cameron Smotherman’s latest loss
Cameron Smotherman’s latest fight was action-packed for so long as it lasted.
There have been 4 low blows and a double knockdown as his fight with 5-0 prospect Jay Alderete lasted lower than two rounds at Fury FC 121.
Smotherman was badly wobbled by a head kick before being choked unconscious by a D’Arce choke.
The referee didn’t notice he was asleep, so the submission remained locked for just a few seconds longer than it should’ve been.
Alderete proceeded to have fun by getting in his opponent’s face and flipping off the gang, which included the previous UFC fighter’s mother.
Smotherman was escorted out of the cage before the official decision was read out. After attempting to run back to confront his 19-year-old rival, several members of security literally carried him backstage in wild scenes.
Jay Alderete denies disrespecting Cameron Smotherman’s mother
UFC bantamweight Adrian Yanez explained why Cameron Smotherman tried to storm the cage after his fourth loss in a row.
“Jay was being disrespectful to Cameron’s mom,” he tweeted.
“Flicking her off and telling her f— you. F— that disrespectful s—.”
Jay Alderete insisted his offensive hand gesture wasn’t geared toward anyone particularly when he replied.
“Remember every thing he said? Didn’t flick off his mom. I flicked off the gang and her dramatic a$$ took it personal,” he wrote. “If you could have an actual issue, line it up, and I’ll see you within the show.”
