Dana White explains why he’s glad UFC never got here to terms with Fedor Emelianenko for dream fight

Dana White doesn’t regret not with the ability to bring Fedor Emelianenko into the UFC.

Fans voted Emelianenko as MMA’s biggest heavyweight despite the proven fact that he never stepped inside the Octagon.

Emelianenko faced many names that did have long careers within the UFC, but some matchups will only ever remain dream fights.

One hypothetical clash involving ‘The Last Emperor’ was mentioned by White because the one exception to the UFC with the ability to pull off all the pieces they’ve desired to do.

In 2009, Dana White met with Fedor Emelianenko to try and convey the Russian heavyweight into the UFC.

The plan was to supply him an enormous contract to establish a fight with the promotion’s heavyweight champion on the time and one in all the most important names in MMA history, Brock Lesnar.

Each parties met at an undisclosed location, and despite offering Emelianenko the most important UFC offer at the moment with the hopes of hosting this fight in a stadium, the Russian and his team declined.

White recently reflected on this and revealed that he doesn’t regret not getting this dream matchup done when asked about moves the promotion has been unable to make occur.

“We never got a deal done with Fedor but when me and Lorenzo (Fertitta) got on the plane and left wherever the hell we were, we checked out one another and said, ‘thank god they said no’ because we offered him a lot money,” he told The Pivot Podcast. “You get in that room and also you’re just attempting to get the deal done. We didn’t fly all the best way the f— out here for nothing, let’s get this deal done. We desired to do it.”

In 2021, White responded after Emelianenko said to TASS that the UFC president has “no respect for any human being. Only money and that’s all.”

“His statement was I used to be all about money — he must have been more about money once we made you that supply wherever the f— we were, whatever island that was we were on, and also you wouldn’t still be fighting at 45 years old,” White hit back when speaking after UFC 267.

Joe Rogan has previously said that Emelianenko’s team made unreasonable demands that included wanting to own a chunk of the UFC as a part of the deal.
